I have an HP Pavilion a305w. I have got Super antispyware, Xsortspyse, Smithfraud Fix, Hijack this, ewido antispyware, Registry mechanic and lunch data recovery. Between all of these I have managed to get rid of alot of crap in the computer. I am however still unable to use my restore computer to earlier time and I dont have my _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A. I have done the device manager, uninstalled the DVD +RW drive and the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers restarted and I still have a big red x on my hard drive. I am not able to send the computer back in time it tells me when I do the earlier time that it was unable to make any changes and will not allow me to go back any futher then 2 days which the same problems were here. Any one know of a site that I can get a copy of the reboot disk for windows xp that I will be able to download and open on computer? Any suggestions would be a great help. I have turned gray headed in the four days on this. Thanks again for you help.

HP and Compaq build in a recovery partition on the newer units.
Not sure how old yours is, but if it is there, you should be able to hold down the F-11 key as you start the computer.
If this does not work, try to find ''Recovery Console'' in the search option. If you have this, it will allow you to reformat the
computer back to out of box condition.
If that does not work, you are right, you will need a disc.
